Glossary of Materials and Terms
While placing your order, you might come across some terms with which you are not familiar. To assist you here is a glossary explaining some our standard industry terms and materials.

Art Submission Form
When submitting your own art or logo, it is important to save the art properly and to communicate certain information that is necessary to correctly reproduce your artwork. What looks good on a computer monitor may not translate well to the printing medium. Click on the Media Center and download the Art Submission PDF Form. This will tell you what is needed to reproduce your art the way you intend.

9 Point Paper
This is a white medium weight paper with a smooth luster finish. It works well for scratch-off hang tags, special event tickets as well as temporary tags that have foil or hologram material in their design.

20 Point Board
For a temporary hang tag that is required to last a little longer, we print on this heavier white paper product. This material is also great for printing dashboard plaques.

80 Pound Paper This paper has a bright white finish making it an excellent choice for printing color pictures. It is a great product for an attractive yet secure window application decal.

110 Pound Paper To get an idea of this product, think about a very heavy "construction paper". We use this paper for printing our temporary rearview mirror tags. It come in a wide variety of colors and can easily be written on with pen, pencils or rubber stamps.

Acetate
A clear destructible material for inside window application. It has a permanent adhesive and a translucent liner. Use this when you want a permit to be non-transferable.

Clear Vinyl
A clear, somewhat flexible material that can be used inside or outside. It is much thicker than other inside window material and is generally used for a special effect look on a bumper type sticker.

Cold Weather Vinyl
Temperature can affect the time it take adhesive to fully adhere. This material is used for permits or tax stickers that need to be applied in colder weather. It has the same basic properties as white vinyl (see below).

Destructible Vinyl
This material is used where ever high security is the key. It is thin with a very aggressive adhesive and once applied, it cannot be removed in one piece. It is white with adhesive on the back.

Inside-Window Reflective
When a highly visible decal or permit is required and it needs to be secured inside of the window, this is the material of choice.

Mylar (1mil)
Also known as polyester, this clear material has multiple uses. Its hard non-destructible properties make it ideal for inside or outside application. It has a permanent adhesive but it will not tear making its removal easier. We use it for membership decals, permits and as a lamination on other materials. It comes with an opaque liner.

Mylar (2mil)
This is the similar to the 1mil mylar (see above) but is twice as thick. It also come with a translucent liner making it easier to read the face of an inside window decal.

Opaque Mylar
This is a material constructed in layers so that light will not penetrate it. It is used for window decals that have printing on both sides so the print from one side does not show through the other side. Great for membership decals that are applied to glass doors.

Polyvinyl
This is a semi-ridge plastic used for towing signs. Polyethylene is available in different thicknesses and can be laminated with reflective material. .075 gauge is primarily used for Towing Signs. .023 and .035 gauge Polyethylene is used for rearview mirror parking permits for special applications. OUr standard material for parking permits have been upgraded to tRY-ply Composite Material.

Reflective Vinyl
This vinyl can be used as a bumper sticker permit or on a hang tag. It will reflect a light beam from a head lamp or flashlight to make it highly visible at night.

Removable Mylar
This material gives you the opportunity to reposition your decal when you apply it to your window for the first time.

Rydin Reflex
This premium vinyl is used when you need security and visibility. It has a water mark integrated into the surface to give it anti-counterfeit properties. It is also destructible and difficult to remove in one piece.

SecureLam
This material is a durable clear laminate used for extra security with Hang Tag Parking Permits. Available in 25mil and 29 mil, SecureLam includes an imbedded holographic watermark.

Silver Mylar
Ask for this material if you want a sticker with a brushed or shiny chrome finish. It is for outside use and is used for promotional products as well as for a unique look in a parking permit.

Static Vinyl
This material is clear and used when you want a decal to stick to glass without adhesive. It is great for temporary permits or decals used for advertising and other short term, low security applications.

tRY-ply Composite
This is the standard material used for Rydin Hang Tag products. tRY-ply Composite is three layers thick, and is manufactured to take advantge of their combined strength. tRY-ply Composite looks and feels like a credit card - rigid, durable, and professional-looking. Graphics and text print clean and sharp -- and they are protected from scratching and scuffing in between the layers of material. To prevent premature fading, UV inhibitors are infused directly into the material. tRY-ply Composite is available online in 25mil online. Heavier 34mil is available upon request.

Void Feature Mylar
This is a shiny chrome material that can only be used once. It has the adhesive on the back and once applied the words "VOID" will appear when the decal is removed. Great where security and anti-theft is important.

White Vinyl
The most common outdoor material we use is this 4mil (.004 inch) vinyl. It is somewhat flexible allowing it to fit to surfaces that are not totally flat.
